Hi, I’m Özgür.
Creative technologist, filmmaker and media artist
Özgür Önal is a creative technologist, filmmaker and media artist based in Istanbul. His work sits where archival evidence meets generative and interactive systems, returning to one problem: how to make an imperceptible force perceptible without illustrating it. He performed with a self-built electromagnetic instrument at the Nissan Art Award 2020 in Yokohama, releases sound work internationally with Cities and Memory in Oxford, and builds evidence-based reconstructions of damaged cultural material, from a Roman mosaic surviving only from the eyes up to the Library of Celsus at Ephesus. He is a member of the Europeana cultural heritage network and has served as an expert evaluator of EU cultural innovation proposals for EIT Culture & Creativity. His background is computer science engineering with a master’s in design.Creative Director & Founder @ PromptBricks.ai Creative AI Studio
I am also an expert evaluator and mentor for the EU-funded programs. Experienced in evaluating 20+ proposals for EU-funded programs, including Horizon Europe (HE), European Research Council (ERC), EIT, EIT Culture & Creativity. Expertise in product design, audiovisual media, cultural heritage, and gaming with a focus on innovation, education, and business creation. I have offered a qualitative and quantitative analysis along with sufficient rationale to support the scores given to each criterion.
